Language in the age of artificial intelligence

How Artificial Intelligence Shapes Our Language and Scientific Methods? The Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities at Kaunas University of Technology invites academics and practitioners to discussions on the impact of AI on the Lithuanian and other languages, its influence on language status, and changes in language usage. The event, taking place on May 8-9, 2025, in Kaunas, will provide an opportunity to exchange insights and strengthen the scientific community.

About the Conference

Language in the age of artificial intelligence

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities at Kaunas University of Technology is organizing a research conference aimed to discuss various aspects and issues about the rapid development of language industry and possibilities of artificial intelligence application changing the turn of research.

We cordially invite specialists and researchers in the area of Philology, Educational Sciences, language and technologies to share their experience and insights and take part in resourceful discussions about the use of artificial intelligence in the research of language, didactics, impact of machine translation and AI on language and AI ethics questions.

The conference will take part on the 8–9th of May, 2025 at Kaunas University of Technology, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities (A. Mickevičiaus g. 37).

As part of the conference events on the 8th of May, 2025, the 5th Translating Europe Workshop (TEW) From Translation to Accessibility: EMT Train the Trainer Summer School, titled Audiovisual Translation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: changes, challenges, possibilities is jointly organized by the Research Group of Language and Technologies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), together with the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission (DGT) (Vilnius Field Office), and in collaboration with the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, (Slovakia), the University of Vienna (Austria), Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto (ISCAP) (Portugal), Università degli studi Internazionali di Roma, UNINT (Italy), and the University of Antwerp (Belgium).   • Usage and application of AI in research and teaching of Lithuanian and other low-resourced or less-resourced languages;
  • Possibilities and challenges of using AI in audiovisual translation;
  • Impact of AI and global society for the status and prestige of the language;
  • Aspects, trends and expectations of the use of modern languages in media and academic discourse;
  • Impact of AI on machine translation, post-editing, ethics and other.
  • Abstract submission until 31 March, 2025
  • Notification of acceptance on 10 April, 2025
  • Registration of participants until 21 April, 2025
  • Fee payment until 1 May, 2025
  • Final programme until 5 May, 2025

Participation fee – 120 euros.

Co-author attending the conference – 40 euros.

Co-author not attending the conference – 20 euros (will receive a certificate).

Audience member – 20 euros (will receive a certificate).
